David M Garner

About

After earning his bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in psychology from Cleveland State University, David M. Garner went on to earn a PhD in clinical psychology from York University in Toronto, Ontario. Over the years, he has been a leader in research centered on body image and eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa. Currently, David M. Garner, PhD, serves as president of the board of directors at the River Centre Foundation in Sylvania, Ohio, a position he has held for 20 years.

In 1993, he received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance for his innovative work in body image research. Alongside his prolific research, Dr. David M. Garner has held academic appointments at the University of Toronto, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, among other positions. A certified life coach practicing since 2013, Dr. Garner is a former member of the International Coaching Federation and the president of Heart Life Coaching, LLC.
